Performance Restriction - No Air leaks

Hi Guys,

So my 3.0 has been intermittently going in to Performance restriction mode. Sometimes I can do a 300 mile trip and it doesn't miss a bit, other times after a mile but it doesn't happen very frequently.

A code read brought up P006A-00 Manifold Absolute Pressure - Mass or Volume Air Flow Correlation - No subtype info.

So dreading the inlet manifold had cracked, gave it to my garage to investigate. The good news, the inlet manifold is fine, he smoke tested (quire heavily) and no leaks anywhere. He took it for a drive, tried to get it to replicate the error but it didn't happen.

What he did say is it could be the "change over flaps" maybe need cleaning out or are sticking now and then.

Just wondered where these are located, are they accessible to clean.

Or if anyone has any ideas would be great.

Thanks

The service manual, she say:

Intake air system, high pressure boost leak bank 1
Intake air system, high pressure boost leak bi-turbo mode bank 2
Intake air system, low pressure boost leak bank 1
Intake air system, low pressure boost leak bank 2

If this DTC is logged with P1247-00, P0402-00 & P00BF-07, suspect intake air system, high pressure boost leak bank 1
If this DTC is logged with P1247-00, suspect intake air system, high pressure boost leak bi-turbo mode bank 2
If this DTC is logged with P00BE-07 & P0401-00, suspect intake air system, low pressure boost leak bank 1
If this DTC is logged with P00BC-00, suspect intake air system, low pressure boost leak bank 2
Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system perform the (Turbo, EGR and air path dynamic test) routine

Any other codes logged or pending, or just that one? 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

There are 2 MAF sensors on the air filter box, and from memory had the same. Could it be that, worth asking. There is a part number on the MAF's and all I did was Google it and found one locally, less than £50 if I remember correctly. A couple of screws and a jubilee clip and all was good.

Before you do anything else remove the MAP sensor from the manifold (one bolt) and pull it out. Check that the inside end of it is clean, as it can get very caked with sludge, and then it doesn't read the pressure correctly.

Simple thing to verify before getting into anything more involved. Thumbs Up
