Wonky inclinometer

My MY19 has developed a weird fault. The inclinometer in the 4x4i screen is showing the car’s incline the wrong way round i.e. the car points up when going downhill and vice versa, same with the side-to-side tilt.

It’s not a major issue as I never go off road and don’t use the screen that much anyway, but it’s annoying it’s not working properly. It definitely used to work the right way round and I’ve not done anything that would have affected it. Software is also up to date so anyone encountered the same or have any ideas how to fix it (without going to a dealer as it’s not really worth the bother)

So has no-one else had this issue? Have I really unearthed a whole new and unique RRS problem? Hard to imagine there could be anything else that goes wrong with them after all these years…

Definitely not!! 🤨

When driving along and going down a hill, the image of the car goes up at the front, as if it’s going up hill. It does exactly the reverse when driving up a hill. It’s really weird as it used to work perfectly.

Ha! Nope, still in Scotland. I know our Great Leader likes to do everything as differently as possible to the rest of the UK but I didn’t think that extended to reversing gravity…

Hi Haggisman

I have found mine has started to do the same thing - curiously, on holiday in Scotland. It was fine back in the English midlands. Did you find any answer?

You will just have to revert to old skool driving by looking out the window to see if your going uphill or downhill Big Cry Range Rover Sport (gone): Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe: 992 Porsche Carrera 4S: Range Rover Fifty P400e

I mentioned it when the car was in for a service recently and the dealer said they’d take a look. However it turns out “taking a look” amounts to nothing more than doing a vehicle diagnostic which didn’t show any fault codes. To actually investigate it properly would have mean keeping the car for a few days and as the lease ends soon I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle. I thought they might at least have done a reset or something but no - “computer says no” was the sum total of their efforts…. Still, I can generally spot a hill when I see one and know if I’m going up or down it, so it’s quite a 1st world problem!!

Spotted the same problem a couple of months ago , spoke with my dealer to see if easy fix i.e re boot but they hadn't heard of the issue before and so will look at it at the next service . I don't know if it was ever right as I hadn't looked at the screen before and presumed they just wired a sensor up the wrong way or something at manufacture MY24 Dynamic SE,MY21 HSE Silver, MY20 SQ7, MY 18 RRS HSE Dynamic , MY 16 RRS Autobiography now gone & MY 2005 Discovery 3 HSE that I will be buried in !
