Took about four days to finish the MINI in the end - timing chain and valve stem seals.. that did involve a trip to BMW to pick up a new Vanos sprocket bolt (stretch bolt - couldn't get the chain off without removing the sprocket, despite some people reporting success in doing so, so needed a replacement bolt) and crank pulley bolt (also a stretch bolt - I already had one but, er, made a mistake )

If you intend keeping the vehicle for some time really worth investing in the Gap Tool, always easy to sell s/h if no longer required.

So .. I invested in a Gap tool, and also had both front wheel bearings replaced with Timken units at the local indy - it's just too damn cold & damp outside to grovel around on the floor changing bearings, and since it won't fit in my garage..

Nothing much to report since December aside from a couple of new rattles.. the General Grabber AT3 tyres are still excellent - nice compliant ride, not too noisy on the motorway, no big hit in MPG or anything like that.

Nope I still have it! There hasn't been much to add really beyond MOT and a service.. which I should dig out the records for

Added a few things I'd forgotten and I can't find the receipts for the oil (I bought enough for two services back in 2020) but:

Fingers crossed the new (exchange) PCM from Turners fixes things, because I just paid the bill (mine failed the bench test, so I am hopeful)

I see that between Sept 2020 and Sept 2021 you only had an MOT and service items cost to pay. Got to be happy with a year's ownership for a couple of hundred quid. He says, looking on the bright side of things. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Update now that the car is fixed and running again - brilliant service from Avenger, would absolutely recommend them for anyone local(ish) to Peterborough - after a new low pressure fuel pump, fuel filter, key battery and a repair to the battery-box fuse box:

What’s that old saying, “There’s nothing more expensive than a cheap Land Rover”.

Sounds like you have the ac issues fixed now but just so you know I had a 2007 discovery 3 re-gassed at Halfords and a ac health check and it was on a deal for £50 not that long ago |
