Yes! Thank you Smile

Definitely means there is low voltage in the ECU for some reason - either high voltage drop on the feed or ground side, or dead internally.

At least I know I'm looking at the right ECU now! 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

By the way, I take it that was with the engine running given 14.5V. Do the numbers stay broadly the same with the engine off and just the ignition on? 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

Thanks! Definitely something wrong with my PCM then, either external voltage drop or internal.

Let's hope external as that would be much cheaper to fix, although could be harder to find. Otherwise it's time to get the PCM cloned unless anyone has a complete set (I think PCM, junction box and clocks) from a 2010 TDV8.. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

Belled out all of the feeds (0Ohms to the relay) and the grounds (0Ohms to ground). I will admit I haven't tried back-probing the connector yet to make sure +12v is actually present and there isn't a low voltage feed for some reason but while googling I found this:

https://www.turnermechatronics.com/range-r...start.html

Which sounds awfully familiar! Time to call Turners on Monday, I think. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

It does sound like the issue you have, hopefully they can resolve it for you.
As you have an IID tool can the guy's at GAP not help you out with a flash file?

I don't think it's a software issue unfortunately - I think the DC regulation breaks down internally.. I did speak to the chaps at Turners this morning though and they reckon they can resolve it either via exchange or repair in 99% of cases, so I'll pull the PCM and post it off to them next week; this week I think I'd rather concentrate on worrying about my wedding on Thursday! Smile

Thanks for the help though - I really appreciate that; it confirmed which component has the problem, ultimately. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

£600 later for a recon ECU and .. no change at all.

Still a full list of CANbus faults and no start.

Crusher next, I think. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

Cheers - if it's getting repaired I think it'll definitely need a specialist indy (or a very good auto electrician) to find the fault .. somewhere. Otherwise I'll end up just randomly swapping ECUs because I can't find a wiring fault :/

£160 to recover it from here to Peterborough.. shame I don't have a car that could tow .. my tow car Rolling Eyes 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

Hi mate, don't know if it'll help, but I have a 2012 with the rotary gear selector, a month ago it had a bit of a hissy fit where the car would start but the selector was dead didn't rise and no LEDs came on, luckily it righted it self after about half an hour and has been perfect since, my son ran it past his friend who works at a local dealership, he seemed to think it could have been a problem on the canbus, he advised I check the earth points under the wing because they're seeing alot of canbus faults on older cars due to the earth's, worth a try.

Yep worth a try - I belled out the earths to the PCM as all good, but it could be an earth to something else.

Checking fault codes again and I have the exact same list as before, plus the DC/DC Converter voltage is ~5V and PCM battery voltage reports as ~4V (despite 12V in).
