Air Bag Light -Novice Question

Novice question...

When I have a passenger in the car the yellow passenger air bag light comes on the dash.

Just me driving nothing at all....

The switch inside the door is @ on & the warning light on next to the heater controls is off.

L320 - 2009 facelift model.

Any suggestions?

Did search but nothing much comes up either here or google.

Could be something to do with the occupancy sensor in the seat, anything to do with the SRS system I would be inclined to get the codes read as this may point you in the right direction.

Cheers

Thanks.

I assume that a basic OBD2 reader won't do these codes?

What type of reader do I need to read these codes?

If you intend keeping the vehicle some time I personally would suggest you invest in a Gap diag. tool, even if you sell the vehicle there is a good s/h market for the tools so you could probably re-coup a lot of the cost. When you consider labour rates especially at main stealers it wouldn't take long for it to pay for itself really, in addition if it did have to go to a dealer you would have a heads up of the possible problem instead of the rip off bull**** the dealer will give you and try to charge you a fortune.

You can get an Autel AP200 White code reader for between £44 (direct) and £70 (amazon)

These are excellent value for money on the prefacelift models

The GAP is ~£450
