If your planning on keeping the car for a while why not bite the bullet and just get a gearbox flush,,,, better than faffing on with partial changes. An indie could do all your diffs etc in no time, hardly worth the trouble doing it yourself,, by the time you get the correct oil, and scramble about underneath you'll probably not really save yourself very much 2010 RRS, TDV8

Thanks, thats the route I was going to go but ZF told me to avoid flushing if there are no problems currently as this could introduce issues, He told me that flushing is a last resort if you are having problems and a partial fluid change doesnt cure it. |

Strange that the ZF agent would be against changing the gearbox oil. The manufacturer themselves say the oil should be changed.

Thanks for that, did you flush it or get the oil dropped and refilled? did you recall the oil condition at 75K? |

I had it flushed by my indie. No idea what the old oil was like, sorry. But I did have my old TDV8 flushed on my driveway by a forum member, Geoff, several years ago. That oil was pretty dark compared to the new stuff, so I would guess the oil will be quite dark in all gearboxes that have done 70k miles. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

If you wait until your having issues to get a flush,,,, as ZF have suggested,,,, I would say it's already to late. Prevention is the key. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Indeed prevention is better than cure. How can clean oil not be a good thing. Just in a flush more than a full oil change? I.e does is just change all the oil or does it blast the internals? |

The flush just pumps fluid around. There is no "blasting" really.

As others have said, ZF recommend lower mileage or age intervals than LR so no idea what you’ve been told.
