2013 L320 tailgate Strut

My passenger side tailgate strut keeps coming off the ball joint. I have bought new strut.

Just wondering how easy it is too fit this and how to get into the electric clip to replace.

You need to remove tailgate interior trim panel to get access to the electrical connector.

I'd replace the ball joint too if you can - having just had struts replaced on ours and getting similar symptoms almost straight away new balls sorted it 2012 SDV6 HSE (technically its hers)

Hello!! Yesterday I replaced two electrics struts !!!! You must remove the handle cover with flat knife , you must remove the 2 screws under this cover … then just unclip the plastic trim … you find the connectors inside lower panel ! The problem is that after this job my tailgate opens and close continuously.. press to open tailgate opens then close !!! My tail gate doesn’t stay open !!!! Any suggestions???
