Well well. The sun comes out. The temperature goes up. And low and behold the AC doesn’t work.. It was ok last year - in fact it had a new condenser the year before that.
I went out last night in the dark with my UV torch and I couldn’t spot any tell tale luminous leaks at the lower part of the condenser (which is why it was replaced)but there is residue around the joint at the top where the pipe block bolts to it. Maybe a very slow leak there..
It’s booked in now anyway to get sorted along with leaky tyre rims which are doing my head in.
Ever since we have owned it the dash vents on the passenger side only ever blow cold anyway - even in winter.
Could that potentially be a blocked heater matrix? I read that it is a common problem.

My AC needs regassing every summer. There must be a small leak somewhere but for the sake of £30 a year it isn't worth the bother.

Blocked matrix is a common problem but so are the blend motors that basically divert or mix the air,,,, I think 2010 RRS, TDV8

And then to top it all off I left the sunroof slightly open and it's rained all day so now the the roof switch panel is full or water which is dripping onto the radio etc..

I get codes for all 4 of the air blend motors on mine but the system works perfectly. Steve

No it hasn’t improved.
I got the AC recharged and it was ok for a week or two. No cooling again. I’ve just been out with my uv light and there is a massive amount of glowing residue around the lower left side of the condenser (looking at the front of the car). I can’t see a specific hole or damage but it’s certainly somewhere there - or maybe above.
I had the condenser replaced a few years ago at £480 so I’m not looking forward to another chunky bill..

Agreed. I did it again last week. It seems to be only if the sunroof is tilted that is doesn't quite close fully. If it's slid back then closed its OK.
My X5 has global closure and its a godsend in roasting weather before I get in the car. And the ac is brilliant..

Even on my old P38 the sunroof closed with the global closing.

Well, it's in the local garage having a new condenser fitted and a new heater matrix. He reckons that the latter is a doddle to install.. We shall see.

Ok here we go..
No new condenser. Yet..
The old one has been removed and is sat in my garage. I had my uv on it last night and there is luminous evidence all around the bottom left corner (looking from the front).
The garage had two condensers delivered and both were wrong. I needed the car back so it's being used without a condenser at the moment.
The heater matrix is a similar story. They took the old one out as it has short pipes on it however, the new one delivered has long pipes on it and would require total dash removal to install it. It would seem the new matrix is an updated item possibly. It came from land rover too. The original has been flushed through and put back in and now ther is heating on both sides so that's cured. Why they didn't just flush it through on the car like I told them too is a mystery..
So it will have to go back again to get it put back together and have ac working. Luckily it's only cost £50 for the mot so far.

I think you need a nissans matrix.

You can’t really flush them in the car as the dirt won’t go up hill
