Front lower arms replacement

Other than genuine LR parts (very expensive), what other brands do people recommend to replace the front lower arms?

Seems to be a lot out there with various pricing but no way to tell how well made they are.

Any recommendations?

You could just go for OEM - basically the same items as LR branded ones but without the added cost of the LR logo on the box. Same maker, different box.

Advanced Factors, for example, does a complete fitting set with a pair of OEM arms, bolts etc., for the price of a single LR arm. Or Meyle HD ones with a 4 year warranty for the same price.

I wouldn't go down the cheap stuff from ebay - the arms take a hammering and the bushes are almost consumable items so you may as well put decent stuff on - you'll only have to do it again sooner with cheap stuff.

As they say - buy cheap, buy twice. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

This is great advice, thanks.

Those prices are way cheaper than genuine LR too.

Would you rate the OEM better than Meyle if you had to choose?

Or would these be even better...

They come with the bushes and a 4 year warranty for not much more money.

I tried a set of the Poly Bushed ones first and didn't like them seemed a little harsh to me personally, so changed them for the Meyle ones, as said personally found them better, absolutely no issues with Meyle one's quality or fit, must have fitted them a couple of years ago now and still fine.

Cheers

Worth remembering also that the longevity of replacements will be helped by installing them correctly. I bet a few garages just torque up the bolts with the suspension in full droop. Should be done with the suspension at normal road position. Tightening them up in droop puts the bushes under more stress when the car is sitting normally so they'll fail sooner. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Just out of interest, if I read a previous post correctly you have only had the vehicle a little over a week so why are you replacing the front arms, if they need replacing so quickly surely the dealer should be paying for this, assuming you bought it from a dealer.

Yep, that's right.

I took the car in for wheel alignment as I always like to make sure things are straight and true. This is when the issue was found.

I spoke to the garage I bought the car from and they're covering the bill in full so all good Smile
