Yes currently away in the caravan and the Disco was rammed with stuff. Amazing what I’ve managed to get in it so yes it might be a compromise. Only been browsing the forecourts till now and researching. Engine troubles aside surely can’t be that not expensive compared to the Disco. Also have an indie to look after things. Timing belt any easier to do in the Sport ? |

Unless you do reasonable mileage, why not consider a V6 petrol? No DPF/oil dilution issues, less likely to be closed out of city centres and still 350-400BHP MY dependant. If 6 numbers dropped into my lap that's where my money would be going. |

Hmm V6 petrol only thought it was the 5.0 SVR that was around ? I’ll go look again!

Can't some of that stuff not just go in the big box on wheels that you're towing? Never understood why people towing a big box end up with the car full and kids pressed against the windows because there's no room in the car. But I don't understand the whole caravanning thing anyway. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Straight 6 I think, near enough 400bhb and super smooth. Tim Tim RRS sold and replaced with a Skoda Kodiaq after appalling RR Dealer experience and LR inability to supply new cars in any sort of reasonable time frame.. |

Forgot to say, I bought from pentworth this year - landrover specialist ( allegedly ) and it was advertised with a 2 year warranty. I bought and saw it said 1 year..... pushed for 2 and got 2 - not sure if its worth the paper its written on, but obv they can do 2 years |

Well no swapping here as I’m the youngest by a good couple of decades . Anyways Disco or Range can well pull nearly anything, however you do have plated weights on caravans so don’t want to go over it so do have to move stuff around. To make sure not illegal! |

Mid 20s towing a heavy van , which to be fair I don’t think is that bad. Petrol I think would be just as bad/maybe worse ? RRS appears to be better mpg when not towing. Anyway will look around . Not sure I’d be buying brand new. So possibly something 3/4yrs old . |

Good point. It's worth remembering that the towing vehicle also has maximum weight limits. Four big adults and some big suitcases can get you close to / over the weight limit of a Disco. Loading one up to the gunnels can definitely have you over unless it's all high bulk, low mass stuff. You only have about 500kg of payload available which is easy to get to if you're not careful. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Just having a look as we drive up past Tain abs we are averaging 34 !! Yes it’s not accurate but that’s not towing. My last car a CRV got mid to high 20s towing. Really not a huge difference which is why I can live with that economy. |
