2010 tdv8 air suspension strut replacement

Hi,
I've got rrs 2010 tdv8 with a leaky and squeaky near side front strut, my question is if its easy enough to change over a new strut as been quoted £1000 to change it. Also if anyone knows of a decent supplier for the air strut's
Thanks 👍

Very easy to change. One big bolt at the bottom, 3 little bolts at the top. 30 minute job. Kev

If it's got the dynamic dampers they're not cheap and one should replace dampers as an axle pair.

You can do them yourself - there are posts on here and on the Disco3 sister site showing how it's done. Access to the top mount bolts is very tight but otherwise it's deflate the bag, undo top mounts and bottom bolt, undo air line and wiring, replace. Obviously that's simplified but the general idea. As said, have a search and you should find some good write ups. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks guys,
I had a look but could not find much on the rrs will check out disco page , has a wire coming out the top so would guess it got the adaptive damping so you recommend changing to two at same time ? The garage quoted me £799+vat + fitting seem steep to me that was for just one .
Cheers .

That price per strut is because they come in a pretty box with Land Rover on it, go O.E Aftermarket in a plain box and you will get a pair for that price.

If you have the adaptive dampers, it's part number LR052867 you need.

Have a Google around for parts but don't buy cheap Chinese rubbish or Britpart.

LRseries.com currently have BWI struts at £436.66 a piece. That's what I'd go for. Kev

Kev, don't know where the struts are actualy made, but although BWI is O.E. BWI is a Chinese company they bought that part of Delphi about 10 years ago, hopefully they are better quality than the usual Chinese stuff though. Laughing

Cheers

Yes, I remember that from when I was looking at them a few months ago Col in case I ever need to replace them on the L405.

What I meant was, try to avoid the unbranded stuff from eBay and Aliexpress etc. Wink Kev

I was going to suggest that Rob but for the same Advanced are £103.51 more expensive per strut than lrseries.com Shocked Even with the forum discount, that's a hell of a lot more expensive.

Yes. Dampers should always be changed as an axle pair. If you have a brand new damper on one side and tired old one on the other side, you'll get some potentially unpleasant ride/handling characteristics. And that could lead to an accident. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I was under the impression that the air spring can be separated from the damper and can be replaced individually. I don't know if that is a sensible approach, how much additional work it is involved or how much can be saved. Those struts are bloody expensive.
