The demise of my problems Tdv8

Gutted gutted gutted!!
My tdv8 engine seems to be dead or beyond economic repair.
Less than a year ago "Turbo failure", paid for body off both Turbos rebuilt.
1 week later Gearbox module failed!, New unit fitted.
Three weeks ago lost all power, noisy,Sounded like half the engine wasn't fireing and rocking like mad.
Mechanics initially thought injector fault so had it recovered by AA to garage,.
Tried to move it to a position so it could be recovered and it stalled!, When I tried to restart it was locked.
My mechanic says that a camshaft is blue and suspect's the oil pump failed and has resulted on untold damage.

I am absolutely gutted as I loved and cherished my rr sport and now is worthless.
I couldn't go down the route of a recon engine as I now have no faith,Trust in that engine or cashflow to support it.
It is in summary the worst engine I have ever owned.
I won't have another with that engine and I dont suppose there is an alternative engine I could replace it with is there?.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Bali Blue

I think in all honesty a lot of people regard the TDV8 as one of the better landrover diesels,, biggest known problem being the turbo's as you found out,,, but if lookedafter can last a good while. A bit unfair saying youhave no faith in that engine as no matter what you have you can still have problems. Sometime some of us are just a little more fortunate than others,,,, or unfortunate depending on which way you look at it. 2010 RRS, TDV8
bali Blue / colour coded
side steps / flappy paddles
black perforated leather
22" overfinch
heated everything, TV,fridge ...... now with gold calipers and mud flaps !( black mud flaps that is) !!
Many years ago,,,,, 1955 series 1 landie , sometimes wish I had kept it

You don’t say which mechanic, but if at all possible get Steve at T&S Norman have an assessment of it. Equally he may be able to help Thumbs Up , certainly worth a phone call. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Less than a year since the turbos and probably not even a thousand miles.
Always left to idle at least 30 sec before shut down.

How many miles on the engine in total?

The TDV8 is usually a very robust unit other than the turbo issue. My old one is still running and on nearly 200k miles according to the MOT check website. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It wasn't serviced just before it failed, was it? Incorrectly fitting the oil filter is pretty terminal. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hi I am new to this forum so apologies if this isn’t allowed , but I have a 3.6 TDV8 engine in my workshop that I bought over a year ago for a customer who decided at the last minute to not have the work done . Are you anywhere near Lincoln ? It’s about time I got it out of my way so it might help you out
