ACE Filter replacement

Hi just a general query has anyone replaced the filter in the block I think it’s supposed to be changed at 75000.
My RRS is a 2013 63000 on the clock but I’ve heard that the plug that fits into the alloy Ace valve is a harder metal and you could end up with damaged threads leading to a leak !!!!.As ever any wise words appreciated. Bow down Bow down

That is true so don't over tighten the nut.

It's a simple job to replace the filter. Just drop the old one out and pop the new one in. Kev

There is an O ring on the nut so make sure your new filter comes with that too.

Rather than use screwdrivers to lever old filter out, there is actualy a thread in the base of the filter which you can screw a 6mm treaded bolt into to wriggle it out with if you wish. Little easier if you happen to be laid on the floor doing it.

Cheers

I bet LR have a special tool for that. Probably available at the cut-price cost of just a single kidney. Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Filter Replacement

I change my filter every year. It might be a bit of an overkill, but I have never had a problem with the system after 11 years. It is cheap insurance as they are cheap enough.

Hi thanks for your comments I take it you haven’t had any problems with the threads of the alloy housing when you put screw the cap back in ?

Yes. The official procedure to drain the fluid is via the fitting on the ARB itself. Mine was rusty so I didn't want to touch it and risk rounding and/or leaks. It's much easier to do multiple drain and refills directly from the reservoir to switch out the black horrible fluid for nice clean stuff. Kev
