Car alarm going off and indicating on dashboard bonnet open!

A few days ago, drove the car Evoque (MY 2012) to the store and coming back out found the alarm goone off, which I had to stop by disarming the alarm via the key. Checking the warning on the dashboard, it states "bonnet open". Which threw me as the bonnet had not been touched since the last time it was at the garage many months ago! Anyway, opened the bonnet and slammed it shut (to ensure its definitely shut). However, when I armed the car again, a few minutes later, the alarm went off and showing the same message "bonnet open". Any ideas what could be the problem? Thank you RRS 2.7 TDV HSE MY07

A very common fault , mine did the same new alarm sensor required bonnet area I had my indi replace mine as its service was due but apparently it is an easy fix it you want to replace it yourself.

I would hazard a guess and say the bonnet switch is faulty,,, or mal- adjusted. Disconnect it and link the connector out with a paper clip or something similar and see if the fault disappears when you set the alarm. I believe it's a known problem on other models. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I recently had this issue too. Immediately jumped to the conclusion the latch sensor was duff but infact a little lube of the latches themselves sorted it for me. One side just wasnt quite latching back correctly and i assume the sensor wasnt making.
