Yesterday I sold my cherished MY13 RRS to a dealer who came to my home to carry out an pre-purchase inspection.

After a faultless inspection of my immaculate very low mileage 3.0 HSE he lowered his previous offer price.

After 8 years of trouble-free motoring I reluctantly let the car go because being a Euro 5 it will be caught by the extended London OLEZ zone due to come into effect in October and charging £12.50 per day (7 days a week).

Two hours after the car was driven off my driveway I received a call from the irate dealer complaining that on the motorway home the vehicle had suffered a catastrophic crankshaft failure.

Expressing my regrets for his unfortunate problem I thought to say it was 'poetic justice' but didn't.

Why's he complaining to you? It's not like it was broken before you sold it to him, is it?  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I guess if the trader had turned up and said "yep, nice car, worth what I initially offered so I will pay you that" we would have more sympathy for him. As he didn't, less so.
