Does anyone know how to open the tail glass if the switch do

Thought I'd bump this old thread up see if any answers are out there...

My Tailgate opens either with button on remote (LR Button) or button on tailgate, but tail glass does not. I do suspect the switch is at fault but how does one open the tail glass to replace the switch?

Look forward to hearing your solutions,

Judging by the marks in the panel around the switch on mine levering the old switch out seems to be only way to go if the switch is dead then plug the new one in or short the pins to open.

Don’t buy the Chinese knockoffs they only last a few months. Steve

I found this article:

https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/105552-brok...-vehicles/

It shows that you just need to pry off the black cover from wiper motor and then you pry off the trim panel covering lower tailgate section (presuming you can open tail gate) and then you slide the small white plastic piece and top glass opens!!

So after all that getting to the latch it seems to be working as in no corrosion and the microswitch clicks happily when pressed but still can't open top glass with the switch on tail glass or remote.

Also I tried adjusting the lower gate latch to get a more secure close and have rounded off one of the bolt heads~will call dealer tomorrow and get a couple think pn is KYG500380. 2007 Stornaway Grey RRS HSE 4.4 V8

Why not just replace the switch with it closed? I did it month or two ago with it open tbf but I swear there's no reason it can't be done closed

Checkout my post history for it. Since the old switch just unplug

so the reason my upper tailgate would not open , was because the soft close at stopped working for the main tail gate. Why did it stop working ? well long story, but I need to adjust the stryker to make it close properly again. Once this was done, the soft close operation worked, and thus the upper tailgate was able to open.

this was my thread on the issue
