L320 MY2013 powered boot struts fire randomly!

Hi All,

I have a ghost in the system. If the car is unlocked and stopped then the boot powered struts will fire and open the boot
No-one is pressing on the remote !

any thoughts? Its happening more and getting rather annoying to say the least

Is there a sensor which thinks its not closed properly - and then decides to open?

Thanks! Current car - 2016 MY17 L494 in black - sometimes towing a Buccaneer Cruiser.
Sadly gone - 2013 L320 3.0 TD in grey! sometimes towing a Buccaneer Cruiser.

I didn't think the L320 had that?
Where's the switch / control for gesture control? Current car - 2016 MY17 L494 in black - sometimes towing a Buccaneer Cruiser.

No gesture control on the L320.

It could be caused by the external boot release switch corroding and causing a short. This would make the system think the button has been pressed. Might be worth. Alternatively, the wiring to the switch might be damaged causing the same thing. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Download the workshop manual here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/t7a6drmb6m4...3.rar/file

Thumbs Up

It looks like the external switch is a bit involved to get to on the 2013 and is removed from the inside. On the original version, the rubber faced switch was an easy job and it basically just pulled out. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Yes, it looks like a pain to do.
But when I get time its something to do. need to replace one of the struts as well - so I'll do them both at the same time. Current car - 2016 MY17 L494 in black - sometimes towing a Buccaneer Cruiser.

Well I replaced the boot strut - so that doesn't flip off!
Removed the outside part of the boot - so I know how the switch should look
Will order and replace when it arrives

thanks for all your help guys! Current car - 2016 MY17 L494 in black - sometimes towing a Buccaneer Cruiser.
