Hi its what ever you feel most comfortable with, you could save that money into your own repair pot if nothing goes wrong you'll have a nice pot for upgrades or something else, there loads of horror stories out there of costs to repair to be fair i dont think there many motors now that are cheap to repair when they go wrong. |

I agree with all Richard has said. I knew all the possible problems with the RRS and still bought one! A breakdown within 6 months wasn’t a good start but now after 13 months she’s relatively fault free and the sleepless nights are less.

A lot comes down to how good your garage is. If they service them properly, and you drive them sufficiently, then they aren't as bad as people fear. Go to a LR dealership for servicing and repairs and it'll spend more time with them than on your drive as they're hopeless. It'll also cost twice as much for the work, just to add insult to injury.

Thanks everyone. I think I’ll put the money aside and keep my fingers crossed. As has been mentioned, if I dodge any major repair bills, the money can be spent on some nice upgrades.

I would also say no to a warranty, especially if you are prepared to DIY, as you said. The good thing about LR products is that there is plenty of useful information out there to enable you to DIY.

LR specialist? If not, find one. A good garage can service anything but a good specialist knows the non-service stuff that needs intimate product knowledge. ![]() 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

A good indie is a must, i know when you have found a mechanic its hard to not use them but the RRS is a different beast, a good RRS indie will save you more money than a good honest mechanic trying their best. |

I’m in a similiar place as you Vermont_Jack.... bought a 2011 autobiography with 116k miles. Cambelt changed & decent service history. I’m booked in for a ATF and diffs and transfer oil change tomorrow with a guy called Bodsy on here who has come highly recommended. But reading some horror right ups on engine problems but fingers crossed for the best! Thanks

Yes, you recommended him & Bristol transmissions. I was booked in with BT but I just messaged Bodsy out of chance and he was actually coming to Bristol for what ever reason so worked out perfectly! Thanks
