Forward alert not working?????

Hi all

I have a 2012 L320 autobiography and its been fault free since I got it, but yesterday I got an amber triangle warning and it also said forward alert not available. I have given the battery a good charge and a hard reset, checked and cleaned the brake switch sensor (working fine and no brake lights out), took it for a drive this afternoon and the adaptive cruise control worked fine?????

Help I am running out of things to check and test. Does anyone have any ideas?

Ian.

So if I read correctly you went for a drive in the afternoon and all was fine?
I've had my RRS now over 4 years and twice I've had the forward alert warnings etc. and the cruise control inhibited, and both times was when motorcycles overtook and then sat in front of me. Next time I drove everything was fine, I almost always use the adaptive cruise control. I'm a motorcyclist myself so tend to take note of bikes, and I'm also aware of radar jammers being used by motorcyclists (I don't as I don't tend to ride fast) so I was wondering if it was coincidence or possible they had a jammer which picked up my radar which then caused my warnings - also one of the riders definately was looking behind and around for something after he pulled in front, like his jammer was alarming.
Just a thought, but it it's working fine now then it might be fine. 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Thanks Insiorc

The fault popped up on Friday after work in the works car park (no bikes around), I have checked it multiple times but the fault is still there.

Was just after some ideas from the guys on here what could be causing it and or what to check.

Ian

I get this occasionally if the windscreen is frosty, as the ice presumably blocks the forward view camera at the top of the screen behind the rear-view mirror. Once the screen is fully cleared the warning goes. Could be that or something similar (eg filthy windscreen)

Does the forward alert/acc just not use the radar unit at the front of the car, not a camera in the windscreen? I thought that camera was for high beam assist if fitted.

Cheers

No I have fully cleaned the entire car but it is still showing the fault. I have ordered a diagnostic tool so when it turns up I will see what it shows.

Did you have any other errors before forward alert unavailable? Did it come up on its own?

To be honest I'm not sure if there were any other errors, it is still showing a fault this morning but the system seems to be working as it warned me of car on a roundabout? I'm starting to wonder if its been tripped by a low battery and the fault now just needs to be cleared.
