oil leaks!! - Help

So 7 weeks ago, under warranty (which has now expired) Main Dealer in Coventry done some work to fix oil leaks in my sump pan and rear diff.

Today, at the tyre shop I had my car on the ramp and decided to have a nose underneath....

It looks like the rear diff is still leaking along at another point towards the front of the car at the centre. Does this look like the sump?

Obviously not happy and will be calling in tomorrow morning.

Any advice and is it both the areas that they should have fixed that are at fault?

Please see pictures attached

If they have a carried out a repair and that repair hasn't been successful then it's their problem. They've been paid so they should sort it.

What will undoubtedly happen is they'll tell you it's something else that's wrong and you will have to pay.

If the latter, then take it to a decent independent LR specialist and a) get their opinion on what is wrong, and b) get a price to fix it. If they say it's the original problem recurred then you can argue with the main dealer (although I doubt you'll get very far). If they say it's something else, then at least you'll know the cost to fix it.

Last piece of advice - don't use main dealers to do anymore work on the vehicle. They're expensive and generally do a poor job. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for your reply.

The reason I did for the previous work was because it was under warranty.

Looks like a run of sealant along the joint to me, commonly known as a bodge job to get it out of warranty. Companies that do a job like that around here all work under one company name Bodgeit and Scarper. Thumbs Up Good luck.

I've been in touch with Liam Hayward, the Customer Experience Manager at Guy Salmon Jaguar & Land Rover Coventry.

I believe everyone should have the opportunity to right a wrong. Lets see what they come back with...

That's part of the trouble. Stop having managers for experiences and get in some experienced managers that know how to run a service bay properly. And then get them to hire/fire decent mechanics to do the jobs. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
