5.0L SC 280k miles with wing and side damage

it needs a new right wing, new headlight and also damage down the right hand side, how much think itd be worth? i was thinking no more than 3-4k.

also no idea if it actually runs, seems to be sat on its arse as well but that could just be dead battery.

also if its made it to 280k is the engine going to be haggered? i assume at that mileage its also safe from the timing chain issues?

It'd be worth £3k if it was in good condition. By your description it's probably a grand, if that. Could need several thousands spending on it which is more than it's worth. It'll be worth more as parts.

In other words, it's a scrapper. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

its not far from me so i might go give it a look and see if it starts. I currently have a 4.2, would love a cheeky upgrade to a 5.0L 500bhp monster Razz

A dead battery shouldn't cause it to sink to the bump stops. As it's damaged down the passenger side, perhaps there's damage down underneath too resulting in air leaks. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Could of been stood for months looking at it, what's to say someone didn't just lower suspension to make it easier to lift in a charged battery as it's been disconnected at some point as date has defaulted to 2009, but everything is pure speculation till you look at it I guess. Might be worth a cheap bid though.

Cheers
Col

i think the 4.2 are more reliable engines, but if you want something cheap to play with. Put in a low offer.

(e.g parts value)

Reminds me of this with engine/chain damage).

It's still not running right AKAIK

They finally fixed the samcrac one the timing cog was off or something.

But at 280k would timing guides really be an issue?

I'll have to go view it with a battery pack and see if it'll start I guess

Sam’s got a new video out.

He’s given up on it.

ah damnn, it is annoying when its one thing after another tbh. but if the compression test is good, and its only one bank it feels like its worthwhile going for.

i didnt end up bidding on that car, copart acc didnt activate in time, but if i see a full fat 5.0L I'll be real tempted.

For the money you spend on a fixer a upper, buy a decent running one that has been looked after, if you buy a non runner but was working i think you will end up spending more than you think getting it right. These are massively complex machines that unless you can do a body off might end up biting you in the behind.

yeah but my worry is i buy a decent one and still have to do all the usual things that are gone at that age, ARC pipes, timing chain issues or top head rebuilds. Thats if I can find a mechanic who will actually do it and that i trust, but if i buy it cheap as Censored and do it myself well I know its being done(who knows if properly Laughing) and i get to learn a lot, plus i enjoy it.
