Glovebox

Quick question. The glovebox on my car just drops like a stone when you open it. Is it meant to be that way or should it have a soft opening? Current - 2020 Range Rover Sport P400e

Even my RRS1 opens slowly, assuming the RRS2 is similar to the RRS1 check that the little gearwheel/damper in the attached picture has some resistance when turning it as it should have, or if the teeth are broken or stripped.

If you need a new one.

Part number linked above is for a LHD vehicle. Rimmer Bros website is wrong. As I have found out.

Correct part number is FFZ500080. I have ordered one of these and will do a write up on fitting when it arrives.

Turns out all Gloveboxes have soft open, but the damper cog snaps meaning it just drops like a stone. Current - 2020 Range Rover Sport P400e

Sorry my mistake, FFZ500090 looks to be listed for the r/h/d L320 and l/h/d L494, is the damper on the opposite side on the L494 then? by the passengers door not the console.

Cheers
Col

Eventually got this sorted. The correct part number for a right hand drive vehicle is FFZ500080.

When I dropped the glovebox, I was presented with this:

The cog was loose and with the lightest touch, it fell off:

Gently push this tab towards the front of the car and pull the assembly off:

Then install the new part, close the globe box and job done. Soft opening glovebox:
