Electronic Parking Brake Manual Release

My EPB failed for a second time last night. Here are my thoughts (looking for a fact check).

1. Finding the manual release cable is fruitless because there isn’t one.
2. The EPB is attached by two bolts into each rear wheel calliper.
- can be released from under car. Wheels on chocks. Max suspension height.
3. If you can open that, there may be a release switch in there?
4. My solution was to remove both bolts and disconnect the wiring to remove EPB to free the car.
- the EPB itself was a bit mashed up around one of the bolts
5. The fix is a replacement unit.

I’m posting this because there is a lot of video on the previous models and mixed chat on the subject including Disco 4 and 5.

DiscoMikey - agree with the above?

Thanks in advance

Under centre consul cup holders ,red release lever, well there is on my 16 model. The digital hand book in Recovery Section explains. Similar position on previous model.

No sir. That’s the transmission. Not EPB.
- at least on my ‘15 model year.

I think many of us think it does that. And YouTube on previous models indicates similar. But there isn’t a cable to pull there. The red handle is though.

I’m really just wondering if there is an easy method of emergency epb release. 2022 P440e AB

It seems you are correct, sorry, just read it again. Have seen videos refering to manual release, perhaps on cables to rear and not electrics, oh dear read twice and then comment.

Can you not remove the couple of bolts holding the electric actuator to the caliper and with that out the way, then wind the park brake off manually using a Torx or 12 side spline drive bit in the end of the caliper? if stuck at side of the road, or any where like that.

Cheers
Col
