2013 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 Baltic Blue
2020 Defender

I just realised that having taken delivery of a 2020 Defender 3 weeks ago, i hadn't thrown any comments or pics in here! Whistle

It's a 110 First Edition with the full expedition pack.

I hated the look at first, but the wife wanted it and hence, here she is. But now, i have grown to love it's looks.

It gets quite a bit of attention, and it's a BIG car....though with a couple of RRS's and a FFRR, it's easy to get used to! LOL

It's an awesome car from a looks perspective (Subjective, i know) plus it handles really well off road.
My chief complaint, is that it weirdly, retains a lot of old defender characteristics and is not that fun to drive on the motorway. Above 50mph, its noisy (My expedition pack certainly doesn't help!) and rolls around quite a bit, it also feels like LR have installed a load of "characteristic" creaks and rattles, from an otherwise very well made car....but i think this is to appease the old defender fans! Rolling with laughter

Don't get me wrong, i love driving it around at 30mph, tootling through the local villages etc, But anyone genuinely considering a Defender as an RRS replacement may feel a bit let down in the real world.

I intend to order a 90 Commercial to replace this, when the order book opens. Which i hope to be a more enjoyable / usable toy.... but in the meantime, this one is here to stay!

Easily the best colour and that's exactly what I saw yesterday at Lookers. I bet you grow to like it more and more - that's what Defenders do to you! Very Happy

Haha.... i completely agree.

Though i am under no illusions.... for me, it's purely a fun car. If i were confined to only one car in the range, it certainly wouldn't be this. I do too many miles to be able to put up with the shortcomings! Rolling with laughter Now

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

In did a 3 hr unaccompanied test drive of a new Defender and while I really liked the looks and size etc. there's something I couldn't put my finger on that I didn't get on with.

After 3hrs I got back in a 14yr old RRS and it felt equally as good as a band new defender........a bit disappointed as I really really really wanted to love it but I didn't get that feeling.

The Mrs on the other hand loved it, so guess I'll e getting one when the price drops a little, the one she likes is £68,500 Shocked Shocked Shocked and therein lies another problem, the price. I could get a nice RRS or FFRR for that price .......still love the looks though...... 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)

Eskimo... That's exactly the issue i have with the car.

It's expensive for what it is on the face of it....but when you delve deeper into the technology, capability and build it does make more sense. But i still maintain its about £10k overpriced across much of its range.

But you are right, at full price, it's very close to competing with a well specced Velar or close to a new basic RRS. But it's a very different animal and compliments our RRS & FFRR quite nicely. At least until the 90 eventually arrives! Whistle

See your point about a used one for the same money.... If that floats your boat. Now

I think they look good and would be seriously tempted if my price bracket were to change.

Look very road biased tyres though?

Looks awesome Thumbs Up

I love the looks of the new Defender and that is most definitely the best colour, in my opinion. Kev

I was having a look around one when I picked up my RRS and I was pleasantly surprised. Interior looked a lot better than I expected and I do like how they look.

Bloody big though and not as much boot space as I expected! Not sure the dog would like it in there but I’ll definitely be considering one in a year or two.

To much Asian/Korean stuff down here I guess, but just reminds me of a over inflated Kia Soul.

Yes - it does have road biased tyres, as that's where it gets 80% of its use. The other 20% is on our farm tracks and shooting trails...which are perfectly accessible on road tyres as long as they aren't slick! Thumbs Up Now

Well I liked the concept so much I ordered one 12 months ago , should be in 🇦🇺 in the next 3 weeks..
It’s cruising the Pacific on the Tonsberg.

When you look at the current LR offerings they all look very similar, Very rounded and soft,
particularly when you are behind the wheel of the D5 and L494.

The Defender has a significantly scaled down interior and boxy silhouette, it stands out. I look forward
to getting it out on the lap of Aus, I believe it will make a great tourer and handle what 🇦🇺 throws at it.

It will be joining our RRS, that stays, so two LR products to maintain, what possibly could go wrong Rolling with laughter Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

You will love it....it's a great addition to our little LR family, sitting alongside an 2019 SDV6 RRS, 2020 SVR and 2019 FFRR.

I don't think it' have it as my only car, but it's great fun! Look forward to seeing yours when it arrives! Thumbs Up Now

A lot of the issues in terms creaks and rattles at high speed have been put down to A pillar
issues, there is a TSB and fix out (A pillar trim replacement)

I believe early D5’s had similar issues Another Pommie Bar Steward down under
