front screen causes revs to drop slightly?

exactly what it sounds like, if i put on the front heated screen, my revs drop for a second then car idles fine again. is this based off some pulley i didnt know about or has some electrics somewhere gone wrong?

The front screen heater draws a very big electrical load, the fall in RPM is because the alternator suddenly has to provide this and causes a significant drag on the engine that takes a little time to respond.
It’s perfectly normal

Begs the question as to why you're putting on the screen heating in this weather? Rolling with laughter 2010 TDV8 - current - my first RRS, loving it so far......
2005 Cayenne S - handling defied physics and what a sound, so sod the mpg!
1995 Disco TDI- surprisingly reliable, shame about the peeling dash & other trim
Lots of other non 4X4's in between times.........

The heated windscreen draws 27.5A each side, so 55A in total. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

hmm from what ive noticed in the past the driver side seems not to work as well as the passenger so i wonder if its a seperate fuse which is knackered?

It’s probably wishful thinking.

To find out locate in windscreen connectors either side.

And then measure the voltage each side with it on.
Connector tabs are inside under A pillar
Compare left and right.

It’s probably a knackered screen though

Don't forget that the side airbag pack lives on the A-pillar behind the trim so just be a bit careful when accessing it all. Be really annoying to set that off! Shocked 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I like how you just say that so casually. Like its common knowledge to know these things.

idi - info available in the workshop manual that is freely available to download. Took me 2 minutes to open the manual and check the wiring diagram. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I think that would be a very long index of questions with no answers, taking into account not everybody can be bothered posting a reply when they get the issue fixed to maybe help others with the same or similar issue. I think it would be quicker to keep asking you questions. Laughing

Cheers
