United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Zermatt Silver
help on Sat Nav update please

just bought myself a 2009 Range Rover Sport in magnificent condition, something I have always wanted and gradually saved up for Very Happy but wanting to update the Sat Nav, there is no DVD in the car so I imagine it needs updating by CD
,bought the CD but all it does is bring up CD ERROR, it plays any other CD, TAKE THAT and all Embarassed have cleaned the head and still just same, if I go into the secret menus to update software it says something about update tool, and AAC mode
anybody got any ideas please.
And secondly if the above doesn't work can I update to the new INcontrol sat nav system and if so what do I need to purchase
many thanks
dave

You should have a DVD unit under the front passenger seat that contains the sat nav DVD.

You can updates online if you google it.

No chance of upgrade to InControl I am afraid. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

I think yours in a facelift model being a 3.0 and all.

These are updated via firewire and are licenced. Dealer only I suspect.

If yours is a facelift with hard drive you need to follow this link..

Other sellers are available,
I have no connection other than being a very happy customer,
for both BMW in the past and RRS now..

The choice is always yours.. Wink ===========================================

it looks like mine is a 2010 version of the Sat Nav I think a Denso touch screen, if i go into navigation and then map updates it asks for a license key

If the OP 's car is a early Facelift MY10/11 variant the only people that can update the Sat Nav map is a Dealer, it can not be updated via a DVD Disc, Memory Stick or hidden menu, MY12 on can be done with a memory stick.

Cheers

I wonder if its worth all the effort! Guided by posts on here it seems that you can only upgrade older LR SatNavs so far, even with bootleg copies of newer disks from eBay etc. They are always going to be out of date and won't know about roadworks and accidents etc. And people seem generally to be pretty unimpressed with the newest LR SatNavs stuff when compared to other manufacturers (again from what I've heard here and elsewhere).

My solution - although not perfect - is, for me, totally functional and bang up to date. My iPhone has Waze (as well as Apple and Google maps if I want a second opinion). It sits in a cradle like this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07CCN...&psc=1

Installed but without the phone in place its quite compact and neat

and plays through the car speakers as its connected through the Aux circuit via this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JK0...&psc=1
although I see this is currently unavailable- but there are plenty of similar to choose from.

The downside is that it doesn't play through the car speakers when you're listening to CDs but it can still be heard and of course seen through the phone itself. I tend to listen to iTunes on my phone anyway and this does go through the car speakers. You can see the Kinivo button in place just under the "Pass Airbag Off" warning light. Need to tidy up the wiring but I am thinking of hard wiring it into the fuse box behind the glove compartment. Robin

So is your car a 2009 pre-facelft or a 2009 59 plate facelift variant ?

Cheers
