Found the device on their website. How is that even allowed to be sold?

Hopefully they will have taken details of the criminals they've sold it to for the Police when they enquire.

I hope JLR are aware of what the device can do, not going to put the content from the page on here.

But they would have to break into the car to use it and have a blank key as well, unless your motor is on a list to be taken they will take it even if they have to commit burglary. What is needed is for the toerags when caught to get proper prison sentences and not a slap on the wrist and banned from driving when they haven't even got a licence.

Just found the device where it picks the lock and no blank required pricey at 8.5K cant see many toe rags buying that but still they should keep records of who they sell too.

Not sure how much info to put up in the public domain, but keyless thefts are very easy with the correct equipment

They scan the house for the RF signal from the keyfob, amplify the signal back to the car which allows the car to be unlocked via keyless entry

The dongle device then programs a new key in a matter of seconds, car starts, and car goes bye bye

What’s more galling is that they are sold to supposed locksmiths but no locksmith is going to pay £8.5 k for one of these...they would have to sell a hell of a lot of keys to recover their monies...

Haven’t got Twitter so I can’t see the device but numerous companies sell this type of device including Simon Touch and Edilock...both foreign based but with UK arms....

There is a locksmith in North London who claims he is totally legitimate and has been exposed by the Mail On Sunday who sells to anyone... total lowlife who is only interested in money...

Hi the key that opens the door is only £600, the the one the starts the car is meant to be 8.5k whether it's just a front who knows.

Unfortunately not...it’s very very real!
And the persons selling them are only interested in profit regardless.... I would question why you would ever need them?

With these devices it is irrelevant whether you keep keys in an rfid bag...the new devices just plug into the obd socket and teach the car an emergency key.....
They use a turbo key decoder to open the locked doors via the left hand door!

I was thinking about the TV news clip and as Mikey says, know that method has been used for some time now

Also found that when away with the Tintent if we left the key in the caravan the car was parked near enough to allow the keyless entry to work so anyone could have just opened the car and took owt
The RFI pouches at least stopped that happening.

Agreed...I also keep my keys in a pouch and have also switched off the keyless opening on my keys...
I also superlock my doors by pushing the lock button twice..

Unfortunately these latest devices open the doors by traditional key pick methods using a turbo key decoder but once entry is gained the new devices code a new key within seconds...

Hence I also use an aftermarket immobiliser system so even if they pick the locks and code a new key the vehicle still won’t start...

These are super professional tools on the market....I cannot ever envisage when a auto locksmith would ever require one and hence my sheer anger when they are being sold to others via supposed industry locksmiths whom belong to official trade bodies ..

They should be totally illegal to own or possess...

I have done the same.

Disabled keyless entry.

Use disklok steering lock.

And installed aftermarket ghost immobilser.

i was told a ghost voids any warranty on the car including 3rd party ones
