Another Newbie seeking guidance/info

Hello to one and all.
I don't own a RRS but intend purchasing a MY 14/15 low milage SD V6 in the near future. At present just doing the homework getting to know the brand reading the excellent posts on here and locating a good independent with regard to services etc.

As with many others I have heard lots of horror stories about reliability/build quality but I have admired the RRS for quite a while and really fancy owning one.
A couple of questions that do come to mind being;
* Crankshafts.....does anybody have any idea just how many do fail ? ie is it say 10 in every thousand ??

* in the hope that some owners carry out ongoing maintenance work themselves is there a favoured diagnostic scanner for the RRS?

* what might I expect to pay for a WD warranty covering the core elements?

Regards
John

The Gap iid diagnostic tool is commonly used. Not much change out of £500

WD depends on mileage and age, but for my 2015 with 43k on the clock is £2k for the core plus suspension for 3 years cover Joined the X5 45e club

Thank you Dave.....that sounds like a good deal to me. Having now read what seems like a squllion crankshaft/oil dilution posts its not something I would be without.

As far as warranty goes, my 2010 3.0 diesel with 72k is with Motoreasy at £800 for 12 months, £50 excess and no contribution to pay. This year ive had 2 turbos and a reconditioned engine out of them costing me £50 Thumbs Up
