Dead after starter replacment

Managed to change my dead starter motor on my 10 plate range rover sport 3.0v6

Still won't crank at all .

Checked and swpped relay under the bonnet
Checked the mega fuse
checked the connection onto the starter itself . Just incase .
Is there anything else I can check ? Because I'm bloody stumped now .

Any help gratefully recieved .

Well you need to get brave. Stick it in park.

Either
1) test small wire is + when cranking with a bulb
2) touch the small and big wires and see if it cranks ( will be a bit of sparking)

I'm gonna pop outside in a bit just to check the starter turns if I bridge it with a screwdriver .

Its really frustrating after the mission I had changing the starter in the first place

Thanks for your reply buddy and I will be in touch shortly with the results

Just tested the small wire and while cranking its live
Big wire is live also.
I did bridge it with a screwdriver and it clicks .

Got 12v showing on battery and when cranking now clicks as if battery is dead .

Any more things I can try .

I hae put the battery on charge just incase aswell but it was a brand new battery this week

Thanks

Took a battery off a pals v8 diesel and exactly the same.

He seems to think bad starter or engine seized ?

Is it common for these engines to seize just like that ?
Or even snap the crank ? He said it was common in the 2.7 apparently but I aint clued up.on these range rovers .

Put the transmission in park or neutral and see if you can turn the engine by hand, if engine is seized shouldn't be able to turn it over, if it turns probably not seized at least.

Cheers

Before work this morning I turned the viscous fan bolt which made the crank turn to the point it hit compression . But it turned a few times ..
I'm thinking I need to drop the starter back off and check that the flywheel turns when I do this .

So.many people putting things in my head about snapped cranks saying the front will turn but the read will be snapped and won't turn etc .

Hope it is just a dud starter to be honest

I read this and after the first few post I thought, engine seized and likely snapped crank. Try as Col said and turn the engine, if not, pull the starter and with it connected, press the start button and see if it works. I fear the worst but hope for the best. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

As a long shot, what battery is it and where was it from? Have a look on the label (usually on the back) and see if there’s a calendar on it showing when it needs a recharge and if that recharge has been done. That recharge date is for when it’s stored on the shelf before purchase and not after it’s been fitted. There’s a chance it may be new but flat after 6 months on the shelf. And if it’s been done late, it could be too late with batteries such as Calcium (Often branded as silver) being beyond recovery. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Agh yes, just seen it.

The only other thing I’ve seen cause this that’s not a seized engine, dead starter or battery is a seized power steering pump. If all else fails test all the ancillaries turn (I see you can turn the fan but I don’t know what belts power what on the V6 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
