Warranty Time soonish

So I purchased my RRS with a Scotsure warranty executive plus with two years on it for £799 extra,
Fortunately I haven't had to make a claim so I have no idea how good they are but they don't cover
wear and tear, MOT failures and I really would be surprised if they covered Crankshaft failure,

My RRS is a 2012 3.0 SDV6
48k miles

I have ticked all the boxes so every option is covered,
with £60 - 100 per hour labour quoted where asked
and £50 contribution,

I am getting the following quotes for 3 years cover..
Warrentywise = £5,009.21
Warrentydirect = £3,300.70
Motoreasy = £3,568.32 online £2,703.24 After a phone call

I am not due to renew it till late September,
but are these expected prices?

Seems strange the one with on paper that has the best cover
turns out to be the cheapest..

Whatever one I choose if any I would call first to get the best deal possible..

Thoughts on prices, companies or cover please.. ===========================================

Put it in an ISA and self insure. Lots won’t pay out when you claim.

Hi,
can only comment on WD as did take a policy out with them

they had stopped "doing a deal" over the phone it was Thats the price Rolling Eyes

never claimed so when we cancelled the policy they refund all Days unused, if we had claimed we would have been refunded any Unstarted years but not the year the claim was in, fair enough.

ask on here if you do decide to go with any as WD do a refer a friend scheme you both get a bit back

Whistle Whistle

You can also buy the WD one up to a year in advance and just pay £25 deposit. Remember they price every 10k miles so you are close to a price hike soon Joined the X5 45e club

As DrRob says above, put your money/equivalent monthly payments in a savings pot. If you don’t have the need you’ve still got the cash. Or give it to me and I’ll see you right Mr. Green 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Change an engine for a couple of grand....bargain. Whistle Whistle

It’s how much you want to risk a known fault, yes still quite small numbers but it is very expensive, I’ve been there with a disco 3 and it soon mounts up by the time you add in all the other bits you do whilst the body is off. With WD you can reduce costs by just taking the core package that covers turbos and crank shaft, one claim would more than pay you back. Joined the X5 45e club

My 2010 3.0 diesel is covered with Motoreasy at £800 for the year, £60 per hour i think on labour, £50 excess per claim from me and covered up to the value of the car, with no % contribution off me, betterment as it's known.

In the 6 months ive had the policy I've had 2 new turbos and a reconditioned engine off them, my contribution to all this, £50 Thumbs Up I'll definitely get another warranty when this expires and it's likely to be with Motoreasy.

I used and recommend Warranty Direct. Core cover is good value and policy 'small print' seemed okay to me with no unreasonable 'get-out' clauses.

W. D. are wholly owned by BNP Paribas so have a very strong and substantial parentage. However Motoreasy Limited are very small in comparison and Its latest published balance sheet show a net asset value of £9676 as at 31/12/18. See details on https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company...g-history.

If that link does not work then google 'Motoreasy Limited' and companies house link will show and that will get to audited accounts details.

Is the LR warranty the preferable one if the car is of the right age/mileage?

Check on age related expiry. I think warranty wise wont cover the turbo after 7 years irrespective of mileage. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

I have become aware of the different companies max pay out as well

Some are part based so in some cases the max is £500
and in others its £3,000 so not sure how these companies cover the
crankshaft, if a full engine is required due to failure,
one company cover you up to the value of the car, this is a little
subjective, but its much higher than others..

Still time to make my mind up, but they seem to be between
£2,500 & £3,000 or 36 months cover, zero excess, 100% labour & parts
cover and £150 per hour labour covered..

Oh well, I knew RRS ownership was not going to be cheap... ===========================================
