Can anybody tell me the name of the part missing in this pic

As the title suggests, had the car up on a ramp today and mechanic says there is a part missing from the square area in the middle of the green circle. Anybody know what it is? I've googled loads of stuff and can't find anything.

As far as I'm aware it's just missing an undertray but they seem to think it's missing something substantial/structural

You are missing the tow loop cover.

as per gary.

look like you will need 4 square clip receivers too (if they aren't in the holes)

Appreciate the answers guys, it was in fact this piece I was after (Undertray) But I've ordered a towing eye cover too!

As far as I can remember, I thought the engine under tray is two piece - a rectangular piece right forward under the radiator and the piece you have ordered which sits under the actual engine. 07MY RRS TDV6

My Indie told me some time ago that I had an under tray missing and this post has prompted me to have a look at it and get it sorted. And I think you are right garrycol as I have the front cover (which presumably hides the tow loop) but the one further back is missing - the engine one.
So - before I order one, if you've ordered the wrong one IggyIggins, and don't want it, then let me know as I might buy it off you.

I would just like to point out that engine undertray is very heavy.
So.
1 postage will be a lot
2 it very heavy / difficult to remove at oil changes.

If it were me, I wouldn't be bothering to replace it !

OK - sage advice. I think I'll stay as I am then. Thanks Andy

What are the two hoses I can see as they seem to be a bit vulnerable. Robin

That's one of your diesel coolers, Robin.

Personally, I'd replace the undertray. It provides protection and keeps things clean. But that's just me - I don't like driving around having bits missing!

It really isn't a hassle unbolting it to do an oil change. It's only a few bolts. Kev

10 ? Heavy duty bolts

I then have to prop it on wood when refitting cus you can’t really lift it easily on your own and get a bolt started

Hmm - I'm a bit of a hands off guy on RRS maintenance and leave it to my Indie. So maybe I'm back in the market for the under tray...

I used to be so indecisive but now I don't know... Robin

The main plate protects the engine sump (amongst other things) - and yes the pic above does show the smaller rectangular plate forward of the engine that I mentioned earlier.

The main plate is easy to remove with a rattle gun and while solid is easy to put back up solo (I am 66). I have cut a circular hole in mine, under the sump plug so I can drain engine oil without removing the plate.

I'd replace it too. Easy enough to do with a trolley jack if you have one. I've had mine off a couple of times and it's not too onerous.

May as well have the protection it provides, even if just from the odd stone chucked by a tyres, or a bit of branch on a road on a windy day. If you ever venture off the tarmac, you'd definitely want it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I think there's a gearbox undertray missing too. That's a plastic one and easy to deal with.

There are three undertrays. The small metal one at the front immediately behind the towing eye, there's a large metal one that sits under the chassis rails and then there's a plastic one that sits under the gearbox. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
