My local indy (who i've only used once before) tells me the waterpump is normally done at the same time which made sense but another one says its not normally done as its not driven by the timing belt.

Anyone here know?

It's not driven by the timing belt, it's driven by the auxiliary belt.

It's up to you if you want to change it. They are about £75. Kev

Personally, I wouldn't. I'd just replace it if its noisy. It's one of those things though, some people replace them because it makes them feel better.

The way I think of it is that there are many other things that could potentially fail on the vehicle that would result in a nightmare situation so why single out the waterpump? What about the oil pump, turbos, hoses, brake servo, vacuum pump etc.?

If it was that critical to be replaced at a certain interval, it would be on the service schedule along with the belts.

That's just my two penneth. I'm sure other people will have different views. Kev
