I have just bought a 2008 RRS TDV8. While driving it home I noticed that the cruise control was "UNAVAILABLE". The previous owner has upgraded the front bumper to one with a lower spoiler. In doing so he has removed the ACC module and not replaced it as there is not an aperture for it. Is this the reason the cruise is unavailable and is it a big job refitting a second hand one off ebay. Will this get the cruise control back?

Yes, if the ACC sensor is removed then the cruise control won't work. You can either put the sensor back on - and get it set to point correctly - or you can use an IID Tool (or similar) to alter the CCF to set it to standard cruise control. Then you'll have non-ACC cruise control available.

What bumper cover did he fit? Any pictures? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Fantastic, you could be a life saver here. Where can I get IID tool??? and is it easy to fit. Im not botherred about the ACC, from what Ive heard its a nuisance.

Its ok, found it. Its the tool used by a garage to access the ecu to make changes. I will ask my mechanic if he can do it?

Some swear by the IID and its certainly hovering in the back of my mind to get one. But I haven't yet - after 4 years RRS ownership. I've maybe been fortunate in that my local indie is good and for reasonable cost I can leave them to sort it out when necessary. I guess another aspect is that on a gravel drive it is not much fun jacking up the car or searching for dropped nuts and bolts. Perhaps on a tarmac drive with a large garage or workshop as well, things might be different.


And as with all things its a matter of preference. I like the ACC and find it very useful on long journeys. But its horses for courses.  Robin

Thanks, yes Ive got one now but there is no place for it on the bumper I have. Although it has a plastic cover the aperture on the dedicated bumper has a plastic cover, presumably to protect from stones. So may need to change the bumper back to standard, so more £££££ to buy one, repair it and spray it Java black.
