Thanks for the reply. At the same time the engine packed up it also said low coolant. If it has all caught fire in the inlets could it of lost the water through the egrs coolers? It all happened at once and on closer inspection the passenger side inlet. Is badly melted with lots of holes. The drivers side has a couple. Even the butterfly has a hole. So I’ve bought both manifolds. The butterfly. 2 gaskets. Egr blanking kit. Should that be all I need? |

If its an 08 car, you will need a software patch to allow blanking, or 2x new EGR valves |

The coolant come up on the dash at the same time it happened and the bottle is dry. I haven’t put no water in incase it gets into the engine. Whether it’s even possible I wouldn’t know. Some one told me it could’ve sucked anything into the heads. Is this possible is there anything too look for when I get it down to the cams? It was still ticking over fine when it happened. Now it’s been stood for a couple months it won’t start. Would you be confident that the manifolds would be the cure or could it be possible there’s more damage you won’t see until it’s done? Cheers. |

It’s worth changing the cam covers.

Ok thanks for your help. I’m going to have a go tomorrow. I’m alright with spanner’s but never dealt with a big job like this. Will the injectors likely to be tight to get out or what other issuees could I have? Last thing I wanna do is break something off. Also is the software patch just to get rid of the engine management light? Cheers. |

So I had a go yesterday. Only for a few hours. Ready now to undo injectors. Will the back ones on both sides come out past the plastic plugs. It’s like 3 big clips that seem to slide out so far that are packed with wires. Or do I need to remove these. I’ve got the battery of and all the plastic around that. It just seems I need to take half the engine bay out to get at anything. |

So I got all weekend on it now. Although I’m hoping a good day tomorrow will do most of it. How would I need to bleed the fuel system. I’m not changing the fuel filter as yet. Just want to see if this cures the problem first. Fuel filter will be a later date. So it’ll just be the rail and injectors to bleed. Thanks |

One way I saw recently was to leave one injectors metal pipe (each side) slightly loose and then crank it over briefly until fuel comes out. The. Tighten |

Thanks for all your help. I got it all back together today. Not a job I would wish on anyone. I’m half decent with spanner’s but when it comes to injectors an that I was a little worried. All back together. Bled the fuel system. Took a lot of winding over but it finally fired up. Left it running to clear and runs sweet as a nut. Egrs blanked. Only problem is a leak of pipe is leaking fuel. Half the nipple has broken off. Is this a replacement part or is it the whole line of leak offs I need? I’m holding myself back from driving it as it must desperately need oil the manifolds I took off has no plastic flaps left and holes in I can see through. Now to solve the water leak as that happened when the rest did. Bit strange. |
