Thanks JE - It really is lovely and beautifully put together. Well done singletrack. Certainly looked nice and shiny in the hall. I know it is probably early days but from the sweet sound have you noticed any improvement in performance? What size is it from the central muffler back?

Good question, had to get out the calipers I use to measure bicycle head tubes for that one. The stock exhaust has a 41mm (outside) tubing after the resonator. The JE exhaust has 54mm tubing. In sections, it also appears to be mandrel bent - I'm not sure, but the factory exhaust has a visible seam and may well be crush bent. Finally, on the factory system, there is a very large, main resonator followed by two small mufflers just before the point where the exhaust exits (easy enough to see...) - the JE exhaust only has a single resonator, smaller than the factory unit and judging from having peered into it, almost straight through. All these elements contribute to a less retrictive flow of exhaust gases. Hard to detect changes in performance yet...but I find that the sluggishness off the mark with the TDV6 has more to do with the gearing of the automatic tranny (when in "regular mode") than with the willingness or responsiveness of the engine. In the end, turbo lag is probably the real enemy. Oh yeah...and weight. 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE, Java/Ebony/Cherry, Privacy, Sunroof, PTI, Premium Sound, SatNav, Cold Climate, Tow kit, CarStyle coded grill and vents, Tasmods, Stormers, JE Exhaust, Autobiography badge |

The pipe from the catalyst is at least 54mm - but after the stock muffler, it is definitely smaller and by my measurement 41mm. The JE/Larini pipes are larger. As I still have the box (cardboard day is this Tuesday) I have measured it for you - 130cm tall by 43cm wide and 58cm deep. Big I have little doubt that JE would double check the contents before shipping it to Oz so that you don't have two right bits when you should have a left and a right. I was out today driving about in sport mode and manual - and agree, it's a more pleasant drive - in "American" mode, you press on the accelerator and then wait... One final word on the exhaust - as a driver, you will notice the sound outside when the car is idling, but what you may not hear is the sound heard by a bystander - that is very sweet! Very V8! 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE, Java/Ebony/Cherry, Privacy, Sunroof, PTI, Premium Sound, SatNav, Cold Climate, Tow kit, CarStyle coded grill and vents, Tasmods, Stormers, JE Exhaust, Autobiography badge |
