Yes, I'm the same. It seems to happen more often the longer between starts.

Well it's happened again, it went for 2 weeks nearly without switching off data!
But this afternoon when it turned data off itself I tried turn data back on it states it is reading the sim for about 3-4 mins then a pop up at the top of the screen says the sim card has been removed Censored .
This happened all afternoon as I just kept on trying on the way home from London and by the time I got home it still hadn't connected! Why don't things just work as they are supposed too...? Evil or Very Mad

Is it 3G only? Seems mad that a 2017 car didn’t have 4G capability.

Mine never worked in my 2017. Replaced card reader, not fixed. Replaced telematics not fixed. Last time saw the car (when I collected my stuff after I got rid of it) it was in the workshop with the interior in a state of major disassembly. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6
Gone - 2009 Buckingham Blue RRS 2.7 TDV6
Gone - 2010 Alaska White RRS 5.0 V8 Aspirated
Gone - 2017 Chawton White RRS 5.0 V8 Supercharged
Current - 2010 Java Black RRS 5.0 V8 Aspirated
Current- 2024 RRS P400 SE Dynamic

How much was the card reader?

I have had the same issues as most, the Stealer set my sim up when i collected the car but the sim was a 12 month set data card so when the data ran out i had to swap it. My big fat sausage fingers could not get the sim out and i have ended up damaging/breaking the sim car reader so now i cant get the new sim to work.

Do i need to get a new sim reader or is there any other options out there? My preference would be to hotspot from my phone as got unlimited data but that does not seem to be an option.

Also, my wifi wont download the latest software update so getting very peeved

i cant hotspot as that means my phone connecting to the cars wifi/signal and without a sim it does not work

Car wont connect to my phone when i use my phone as a hotspot for wifi - it just says connection failed

my software version is S18B_18.28.4-188194

Not sure why you cannot use your phone as a hotspot as that works OK except you have to connect every time .
It does not need the SIM, that is the whole point of the option.

Ask your dealer to enable SOTA for you, your car is ready but needs turning on at the Land Rover end. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled
