MY2010 tailgate issues

Hi all,
I have a MY2010 sport, and over the last year or so have been having issues with the 2 piece tailgate, in that the main tailgate doesn’t always close all the way (the motorised soft close doesn’t pull it shut).
It’s an intermittent fault, and will operate fine for weeks, then won’t close properly for 5 or 6 closes, the will work fine again.
The time between the fault is slowly falling and has got to the point where it happens nearly every time we use the main tailgate - and we have got to the point of not using it if we can manage, but it’s a big ask to get the dog to jump in through the glass opening only!
So far, I have changed the latch on the main tailgate, the motorised soft close latch, the main tailgate switch and the tailgate wiring. All have been changed for new parts, not used.
I’m now at a loss as to what to try next. Any ideas would be greatly received, as both my local LR indy garage, and LR Indy mobile electrician have never come across this before.

Thanks

Phil

Just a thought,

Sounds like car believe something is stuck and it won't close

Maybe your hinges need adjusted, either on tailgate or body.
Check if tailgate sits flush, straight and in right height when closed.

or latches needs adjusted

Have you tried adjusting the rubber bump stops around the tailgate? They screw in and out, so you can set them at the correct height to stop the tailgate rattling. Maybe they are set too far out, and not allowing it to close. Try screwing them in a bit more.

As above, I would try adjusting the rubber stops. Kev

Have checked the hinges and rubber stops and nothing seems to be fouling. Think it’s probably wiring related or body control module as it plays up even if the boot latch is closed manually without closing the boot. It’s just so random sometimes it closes, other times it won’t!

It's not so much that they foul to door, but that they are set too high. Did you screw them in fully, then try to close the boot?

Yes, all screwed down tight and still the same issues. Looks like the next job is the BCM...
