Suspension & Starting Issue

I lowered and locked my 2010 year car to change the front brake pads. By the way, I am trying Hawk ceramic ones as since fitting a pair of 6 pot Brembos, I couldn't stop brake squeal from the LR/Brembo/Pagid pads.

Anyway, when I had finished, I couldn't start the engine or raise the suspension.

The suspension height control was showing the suspension was locked, in access height, and the normal running height line was also lit. The latter wasn't lit when I initially locked it down.

After half a dozen or so attempts, it did start and I was able to raise the car no problem.

My concern is that there is a problem that may be in the making.

Any ideas of the potential issues if left?

Much appreciated.

Dave

After jacking, the car can take a while to makes its mind up about heights and levels.
Usual practice is to just jack up as per any other car rather than start messing with the height. It's not necessary with a D4 either.
I've had to lift and lower again with a jack to get the suspension to pick itself up. Not really a fault, just a user introduced glitch... 2011 MY D4 HSE

Not sure about the suspension, but the only thing that shut my S/C Brembo's up were EBC Redstuff brake pads.

Cheers

Raise and lower the vehicle while moving to reduce the strain on the suspension as it changes geometry. In regards to the engine not starting after lowering, I’ve never experienced that but it could be something to do with your brake pedal switch seeing as you’d just replaced the brake pads. Had you pumped the brakes to bed the pads down? 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Gents,

Bardley - Thanks, it makes sense and will follow your advice in future.

Col - I did a search and was considering Red Stuff when I came across the Hawks, but will remember next time, thanks.

Brit Plumber - No I had not pumped the brakes before trying to start the engine, that's a very good point, thanks.

When I need to go there again I will bear these suggestions in mind, really appreciate your time.

Dave

I can second Cols recommendation for Red Stuff, I followed his advice on another thread and although I never had a permanent squeal (very occasionally) the red stuff gives off a lot less dust to clean off the wheels...and I hate cleaning wheels!! 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
