oil change

Hi all

looking for some advice

i have a 2015 3.0sdv6 it was serviced 4 months ago but now wanting a service, its telling me 1500mls to service that's the first prompt

i have contacted the dealer the service was done early so this could be a service message, but the service was carried out early

it may need reset
ii do mostly motorway miles
i think at least it may need an oil change or is that a different message

i was also thinking of doing intermediate oil changes myself

is there a good or common extractor that's used also where do you connect it

and i was looking at castrol edge professional

and lastly how do you remove the service due countdown is it the bellow

1) Turned on ignition (foot off brake)
2) Open Hood
3) Open Driver door
4) hold brake & gas for 30 seconds
5) Let off brake gas
6) Turn off ignition.

it may be that the service interval wasn't reset as it wasn't due a service at the time the dealer serviced prior to selling the car it had only done 6k since its previous service so i don't think they would have reset

thanks https://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/images/smiles/icon_bow.gif

Hi,Dealer might have forgot to reset service light.
Turn ignition on with everything closed, without engine running
press & hold accelerator & brake for 20-30 seconds & it shoud reset light.
I did mine last week as it was annoying me everytime I turned it on, Even though mines going into LR tomorrow for a major service. Andy.

A few D4 owners use these. They work well. Search for best deal tho', this is just to show you..

To be honest I wouldn’t put long life oil in a engine with a dpf that has oil dilution problems, you need to be changing the oil regularly, mines in for service at LR today but in 6 months time I’ll give it another oil change using Castrol oil even though I only do 5-6000 miles a year,£60 for the oil is cheaper than a engine. Andy.

As above, 6k oil changes for an engine that only holds 5.9 litres is a good practice.
I was under the impression that a 5/30 C1 oil is what is required here. A B5 spec oil is wrong for the DPF SDV6.

Oil has been discussed at great length on the D4 side. Personal choice.
There was an offer of Shell 5/30 recently here at a very good price, so I managed to get that.

I have also used Westway Lubricants for a 6k oil change..
