Tow bar

A little bit of tow-bar porn for you...

Probably a very effective plough off-road, but at least it won't drop out or corrode to nothing. Rolling Eyes

I can confirm the split hook rubs going through BombHole on Strata Florida Very Happy

Though that was on standard off-road, not with extra Easylift. Not rubbed it any other time and it is higher than the OE LR 3 pt adjustable.

Very subtle, Garry. What's with the rectangular socket on the wiring - is that an Australian thing?

I think you've just given me a reason to go and try that - just to make sure... Very Happy

^^^ How very "diverse": it can mate with different things without changing gender.

As explained above. LR is too tight to sell their cars in Australia with our wiring system for trailers/caravans. Eg we only have one power line from the car for both trailer tail lamps where your system has individual power to each tail lamp. Unfortunately for us one of those power lines our system powers our trailer electric brakes - the result in an unmodified system is the trailer brakes come on when you turn on the headlights in the car - you come to a screeching halt. The modification is easy but as you are buying an expensive car one would think LR would rig it up to suit the markets they are selling in.

As far as the plugs go - the black and white plugs are of a style used maybe 30 years ago but these days the most common plug is the flat style on the end of the pic above - hence the what we call "donkey dick" converters that are available at our spare parts stores.

So my donkey dick plugs into the car and the trailer into the other end.

The other odd thing with the LR design is that it does not detect LEDs in the trailer lighting and most of our trailers are LED. As a consequence we all have a module that plugs in between the plugs - it provides a load that is detected by the car so turning on the towing functions in the car but still letting the lighting power through to the trailer lights.

I have converted my camper and trailer to old style incandescent lamps but have a home made module if I need to tow a trailer with LEDs. Not sure about the UK but we have had LEDs as a common fit in our trailers since before the RRS/D3 was designed yet there is an issue for the car if the trailer has LEDs - I believe the same issue continues on with the D4 and later RR/RRS.
