Good evening everyone,

I'm a new member, but have been a lurker since buying my RRS a few years back.

I have a problem that I can't get my head around, please help!

I have a 2007 V8 S/C, I have 2 keys for the car and one has always had a flat battery. I kept that as a spare, and used the working one. Suddenly my car wouldn't unlock or lock on the fob so I thought I had another flat battery, I sent it off to have a new battery and case, and it was tested working on the correct frequency by the nice chap who did the work on a frequency scanning device.

Key comes back, and it still doesn't work. I've tried it in the ignition with the engine running for half an hour to see if it pairs but nothing happens.

I've checked all of the fuses in both fuse boxes and all are okay, the battery is brand new so it isn't that either. I've scanned it using a Bosch machine, and a launch machine and found no faults. My guess is the RF antenna? I've read somewhere it's above the headlining near the alarm scanner thing that sits just behind the sunroof on the headlining.

My question is, is there any more checks I can do to try and solve this without ripping the headlining down? Would a dodgy RF antenna put up a fault on the diagnostics device?

Please help me lock my car! I have to use the buttons on the dash to lock the doors by leaning through the passenger door, and then manually lock the passenger door. It's a massive pain!

Thanks for the link. Looks like I'll have a look in the passenger sill and check the wiring there.

Any ideas of how to get the headlining down without ruining the headlining or the clips that hold it up?

you need to remove the sill protector strip! inside
this allows the black bottom B billar trim to be removed.
now the top B pillar trim (that has the seatbelt thru) can be pulled down wards (or out and then down)

Any airbag works on the upper trim will have a torox bolt behind the cover. Remove.
Then pull off A and C pillars

From the other link posted there is a green spliced wire to check also under the sill cover so I'll have a quick butchers at that aswell!

Good news!

I read the post linked from the discovery forum by rover75. I took the trim panels off as per Andy's post. Had a root around for 3 greens all into one, but I found just 2 greens into one (took a good 15 minutes of searching, there's a LOT of wires).

I also found some broken wires from a previous repair before my ownership. One wire comes from under passenger seat, two from front of vehicle and one from rear of vehicle. I repaired them, but have no clue what they are for. (see pics)

So, if anyone else has this issue - look for 2 green wires which are spliced together with a black heat shrink, they should both be live, if they're not then cut the connector off and remake and bobs your uncle.
