Bolt sheared on rear hub

Hi guys

I had a rear wheel work loose yesterday as I was driving, luckily I caught it just in time.

One of the bolts has sheered off and typically my mot is booked in for Monday morning!

Do I need to get a complete hub (part ruc500120) or can the hub be removed and a new bolt installed from behind? If the latter I have a chance to get done before the mot.....

Thanks

You can certainly buy the studs,,,,,, I was actually surprised how easy they come out. I accidentally hit one with a hammer ( not a Rangerover though) and out it popped, managed to put it back using the wheel nut to pull it back in so you may not even have to take the hub off. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I guess the wheel being loose caused the stud to shear, cos if not I’d be concerned for the other 4. Thinking about it, I’d be concerned the damage has been done and you may need a new hub to be sure the other studs haven’t developed any stress’s. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Yes that’s exactly what happened. I heard a knocking and when I inspected the studs weren’t tight.

Thanks gogsy, I’ll try this. If there’s access to get to it from behind it sounds easy Smile

I tried to buy a stud today but nothing local so I’ll have to order one

I assume it’s 14mm 1.5mm pitch. Does anyone know the correct length?

Thanks

& check the wheel because the holes could now be elongated & if they are & you put the wheel back on they will loosen again Andy.

No way to fit a rear stud without pressing the hub out of the bearing

I've tried Neutral

In that case I’d put a new hub, bearing and probably a brake backing plate on at the same time. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
