Right, now to the next problem, the water pump on the new engine is electric, sticks out 10mm more than the other on the pully so mechanic is worried about it throwing the belt off, tried to swap with the original however the block is different, the flange is a lot bigger on the block so the pump will not seal, anyone know if there are any other pumps available that will fit? Maybe off a jag? Cheers 2012 3.0 RRS SDV6 (Currenrly dead)

What you have there is a EURO 6 engine. You need to leave the original pump on the engine as the block is completely different and has an extra oil gallery hole behind the pump. An earlier pump won't cover the hole and it will pee out oil.

Thanks for the info, when we got the water pump problem I just went and bought an engine from a 2011 car, thought that would be better than messing with the other one after checking it’s a 2018 engine with only 17k so I’m just going to put that for sale rather than mess with a perfectly fine engine. So if anyone knows anyone for it? Thanks 2012 3.0 RRS SDV6 (Currenrly dead)

I think you've chosen a more sensible path. Much less hassle. Kev
