If you're going to keep it, get the gearbox oil flushed. It's a good mileage to do it. Also, check the battery. The TDV8 can be hard on batteries and alternators.

I do miss my old TDV8, that's for sure. The SDV6 doesn't have the go or the exhaust noise of the older engine (even though the on-paper figures are quite close, the driving experience is very different).

Also I would recommend changing oil & oil filter every 10k or even less if you can do it yourself for what it cost to avoid turbos going on these tdv8’s Andy.

Thanks. I'm planning a trip down to Dundee to visit family and the new V&A so I was thinking I would book it into Disco Mikeys for a flush, etc. |

Good reminder thanks. Yes, I plan to do myself. I did remember to allow a spell on tickover every time I stopped on my way up the road. Of course there's no way of knowing how it has been treated up until now but every little helps I suppose. Start as I mean to go on and all that! Kev |

I think it's more important to let the engine idle for a minute or two before turning it off. That way the hot bits can spin down and cool down properly and the oil in the turbo drains doesn't turn to gloop. Turning off with red hot turbos will them up much more than anything else. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |
