Lower front suspension arm bushes MoT advisory

The car passed its MoT but had advisories for the bushes mentioned in the title. Is it easier to change the whole arm rather than just the bushes? Anyone done this at home?

Better value for money I think changing the whole arm, there is a "how to" somewhere on here on how to do it, maybe on the disco site as well 2010 RRS, TDV8

change the whole arm.

its a false economy to just do single bushes.
also needs special tools in most cases.

i'd expect the outer ball joints maybe not too far left to go.... 2007 TDV6 RRS HSE..now gone

Think Advance Factors do different ones with a different length of warranty.

Just because it's an advisory doesn't necessarily mean they are shot. If it doesn't knock when the brake pedal is jabbed at low speed, they may still be ok. Some MOT testers will put it down when it's fairly normal movement. A really good indi will give you a better idea.

Change the whole arms. The bolts where seized in the bushes on mine so I ended up cutting the bolts with a reciprocating saw and smothering the replacements with copperslip to prevent them seizing again. Kev

Don’t buy cheap parts either. I bought my car and there were new arms and receipts to match. Within months they were making a horrendous squeaking noise. I replaced them with original LR parts - still fitted and not a squeak. Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5

Gone 2007 TDV8 RRS1 in Buckingham Blue.

How do know if the knocking at the front has been sorted?

You can hear the knocking at the rear better

"Buy cheap, buy twice". 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
