2008 TDV8 cut out

Hey guys, whilst accelerating out of my village today my RRS decided it had enough and shut down, I free wheeled to nearest layby and stopped. Car tries it's best to restart but doesn't quite make it. Any ideas?

Potentially a fuel pump issue, potentially a turbo issue, hopefully something a bit less drastic like battery/alternator

Going to need a bit more info and some diagnostics next

I got it towed to my local 4 x 4 lad, I'll see what diagnostics show up on Monday.
I had it Remapped and EGR's bypassed about 10 days ago, could it be related or just a coincidence?

My money is on turbo failure if it happened under load, especially after the EGR's have been blanked that recently...

Drop the lower intercooler hoses off it, if they are full of oil, it's almost certain turbo failure

Thanks for the help Mikey.
I'm guessing it's going to be a pricey repair then?? Sad

If its worst case, then unfortunately, yes

Body off, and most likely 2 turbos Big Cry

Probably best not to think of that until it has been confirmed. If the in tank fuel pump has failed, its a relatively cheap repair. Think positive Thumbs Up

I had exactly the same thing happen to me this time last year. Sorry to report that in that occasion my SDV6 had killed both turbos. Really hope it isn't that for you as it was a substantial bill, eg circa 4k (did belts same time).

I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
I have an extended warranty from the garage I bought it from, would Turbos be covered on that?

What warranty company, what is the current mileage, and how long ago did you buy the car?

Company is Auto Trust, I bought the car in April 2018, currently it has 104k, had 99k when purchased. Document may cover turbo.

Everything crossed for you, but I have very little faith in warranties sold with used cars. I'd almost guarantee any failures are put down to "fair wear and tear"

The only companies I have ever had successful claims for are Warranty Direct and LR Approved Warranty
