Reverse Camera and Parking Sensors not working.

My reverse camera and parking sensors have stopped working and I get a loud beeping noises for approx. 5 seconds when I start the car and a message appears stating the "cameras are unavailable, consult the dealership". Occasionally the camera will work but this may only be once every couple of weeks.

Are the sensors and camera ran through the same Parking Aid Module?

Could be complete coincidence but the camera only seems to work when it isn't too cold and the ambient temperature is above 13'c. This issue only really started to occur since the cold temperatures set in at the end of November.

Anyone experienced this issue before? What was the fix?

Is it just a reverse camera you have or surround cameras?

The standard reverse camera is quite simple, power and earth and a coax to the head unit via the left side of the centre console. The surround rear camera is a 4 pin, all 4 pins run to the surround camera module. The surround module (if fitted) and the parking aid module are linked by can bus Solder Joints under the left sill trim. I believe issues can stem from water ingress in the spoiler but I don’t think that would effect the parking sensors. Could be 2 separate faults occurring in similar weather conditions. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Thanks for the reply Brit Plumber,

It only has a reverse camera fitted on my HSE.

I'll try and check to see if any of the cable connections are loose. My theory of the cold weather may be out of the window as the reverse camera worked for a couple of seconds this morning when reversing off my drive, then I lost the image the error message appeared on the screen.

I seem to think it could be 2 separate faults but I almost need to get 1 working before I can confirm this.

I have had both the spoiler and rear bumper off, the bumper had a lot of dirt/debris inside, compacted against the 2 outer reverse sensors, I cleaned it off and unplugged them but there was no sign of anything inside the sensor connection. Their was no signs of water or moisture anywhere inside of the rear spoiler where the camera is housed.

If it’s just the reverse camera you have, there’s only 2 wires for power and a coax for the signal. The coax is black, about 4mm in diameter and runs from the camera to behind the roof lining in the middle at the rear most point. There it connects to another coax (it’s a disconnect if you’re removing the booot) and runs down the left D pillar (passenger) in the loom, then over the LH wheel arch into the channel under the rear passenger sill cover before turning right into the X wiring loom where it turns left under the centre console. The cable then meets another connector at the front left of the centre console before running to the head unit. I haven’t sussed if it runs direct to the screen or if it runs back to the LH channel and up to the dash.

If it’s a power issue you may need to trace each wire but it may be worth doing a test of those wires for power first. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

My rear camera was intermittent when I first got the car. I reseated the connections under the spoiler, put a blob of hot glue on and it has been fine ever since. Kev

knwatkins, I had the spoiler off at the weekend and give the connection to the camera a bit of a wiggle while it was in Diagnostics mode but with no joy, it didn’t take long to remove so I’ll give it another go at the weekend, thanks for the info!

Does it fail when you (if you can) select camera from the screen? 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

When I select the Canera in diagnostic mode, I just get a green bar across the bottom of the screen and diagonal black and white chevrons running across the screen above it.

I think the camera is live all the time so I think you need to check for power at the camera. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Sorry to butt in on an old thread, but is the camera in diag mode (fuzzy with a green line) not normal?
I have this too, found it when trying to solve my carmera unavailable issue (no sensors working either) would a faulty camera take the sensors out too?
