LR usually fit All Season tyres for all year compromise. The Summer tyre option is just that, a summer tyre giving better grip in warmer, drier conditions. Effectively it's a sporty tyre option. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

If your SVR is on 22's then they only fit 295/40r22's & you haven't got much choice in tyres as you can only get Conti's or a budget tyre.

Thanks it’s for a new order it doesn’t specify the brand for either option but on my build sheet it has the summer tyres which I didn’t specifically ask for.

I specced my SVR with all season tyres. As i use mine mainly in Europe the M+S tyres make mine legal all year round.

Thanks I think the summer tyres will be ok for me in the UK I don’t expect to goto Europe in winter. Would be helpful if what tyres you were getting was mentioned though. |

Have you tried asking the dealer? I know it's a long shot but they might be able to help.

Might be worth thinking again about the default tyre. Its about to snow here. Summer tyres are great for warm/hot days. We have very few of them. And don't forget the nature of the vehicle is that its built for off-road. Not sure I'd want a summer tyre tread of I was offload. SVR with a few bits from Urban and Glohh |

How many SVRs will be taken off road? Almost no standard RRSs go off road. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The M&S won't cover you legally in the mountains. You must have a tyre showing the snowflake. |

Our son and family live close to Geneva on the French side of the border. we visit regularly including the winter. My experience is that in snowy conditions going up and down steep slopes on anything other than full winter tyres can be a nightmare hence I have a set of wheels and tyres for winter use. FWD doesn't improve the grip of the tyre on the road, it assists traction. All the locals switch to full winter tyres. Whilst not a legal requirement my son tells me that insurance companies in France are very difficult with claims where in an accident and a suitable tyre for the conditions is not fitted to the car.
