Some LR guy in the news papers this morning suggested it was a petrol, perhaps that’s the only good thing in owning the diesel.

Unlike a crankshaft failure, at least this fire will be covered by insurance... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

For the big lump of metal that would be the engine there isn’t very much left of it, I wonder where it all went to, melted? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

A guy who lives around the corner also had his nearly new FFRR self combust while parked outside his garage. He was lucky it only took out his garage door.

Not sure how many have experienced a similar demise.

I always wondered about using thin aluminium in car construction given it's very low ignition point.. the reason the British Navy moved away from aluminium constructions is that they would melt when hit with ordnance. P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!
Lexus traded in ..a total piece of crap
Boldly now acquired - a Lexus RX 450hL
BoldlyGone...Sep 15 MY16 RRS SDV6, HSE, Barolo Black, Espresso/Almond interior.. Best car ever & Drop dead gorgeous... sadly with fuel dilution headaches that became intolerable
Arrived 2014. Oct - Lemoned March 2015- RRS SDV6 HSE
Boldly Gone = Sold for 14k via Pistonheads - 2006 TDV6 SE Buck Blue/Almond int

Different aluminium alloys will behave differently in fires. Also, cars aren't usually shot at by ordnance... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
