Some LR guy in the news papers this morning suggested it was a petrol, perhaps that’s the only good thing in owning the diesel. |

Leak of HP common rail fuel line of a diesel spraying onto hot turbo also can cause a fire - was a problem on some early D3’s 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Unlike a crankshaft failure, at least this fire will be covered by insurance... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

For the big lump of metal that would be the engine there isn’t very much left of it, I wonder where it all went to, melted? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The engine is still there Tim,,everything round it melted,you can still see the crankshaft pulley & camshaft pulleys at the front of the engine Andy.

A guy who lives around the corner also had his nearly new FFRR self combust while parked outside his garage. He was lucky it only took out his garage door.

Different aluminium alloys will behave differently in fires. Also, cars aren't usually shot at by ordnance... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
